When my good friend Jeff Newcum (of Jeff Newcum photography: www.jeffnewcum.com), told me that he’d been contacted by a woman wanting to do a trash the dress session, and invited me along, I jumped at the chance. When he asked if I had any locations in mind - I had just the place!

First off - in case you are hearing about this for the first time, “trash the dress” is a fairly recent trend, where brides get dressed up again in their wedding gowns (usually after the wedding), for a fun, creative, fashion-styled photo session where no one is concerned if the dress gets a little scuffed. Very rarely are dresses actually harmed in the making of these photographs - but sometimes they get a little dirty, and sometimes they get a little wet! It is something of a national craze at the moment, with feature articles on it appearing on ABC and in the New York Times (among many others).

Ever since I have had an interest in a more “fashiony” style of photography, I have always wanted to do a shoot at the Clinton Dam on the Wachusett Reservoir. This seemed like the perfect chance. I met Jeff and Shona at the Old Stone Church on the other side of the Reservoir, where we began to explore the possibilities when keeping the dress clean wasn’t a priority, then we moved on to the Dam.

Thanks to Jeff and Shona (and Shona’s mom) for having me along - it was a total blast! If you are reading this, and would be interested in doing a session like this in your dress, send me an email at info@jamisonwexler.com and we’ll set up a time!
