Susan and Mike were the winners in my 2009 Free Wedding Photography contest. Susan’s winning contest entry was so moving and heartfelt, and I was super excited to have a chance to share in their day.

We began at Susan’s Dad’s house in Dedham, where Susan’s family and bridesmaids were packed in and bustling with excitement. With all of her helpers, it didn’t take long for Susan to be dressed and ready for her bridal portrait session. A quick look around the house revealed some great natural light, and a really cool antique bed in her brother’s room, so after a quick cleanup (I hope he was able to find his pants the next day), we turned his bedroom into a photo set worthy of Vogue magazine!

After the photos, it was time for the long, 100 yard, trek to St Mary’s Church in Dedham. The ceremony was beautiful with the church quickly filling up with all of Susan and Mike’s friends and family. At the end of the ceremony I snuck the newlywed couple up into the choir loft, where they had a few moments to themselves, before we took advantage of the really cool light, and the even more cool armoire for some unique portraits!

Next it was off to Lombardo’s in Randolph for the family photos. Since we were able to complete the family photos a few minutes early, we had the awesome opportunity to walk around the Lombardo’s facility a bit. As we were exploring, we noticed that a short hall opened up into a nightclub - and it wasn’t open for business yet. They were nice enough to let us use the room for some fun and unique portraits.

Then it was time for the reception to begin…and what a fun reception it was, full of love and celebration and awesome food!
