Nicole & Lance’s wedding at the Popponesset Inn in Mashpee, MA
Cape Cod in September is one of Massachusetts’ best kept secrets. With the summer crowds back home, the beaches are peaceful and quiet, and the weather is still mild enough to enjoy them. Nicole and Lance were in on the secret, and selected the perfect day for their beautiful beachfront wedding!
I started the day at the beach house where Nicole, her bridesmaids, and her family were getting the final touches applied to their makeup and dressing for the wedding. After a champagne toast to begin the festivities, we all loaded up and headed over to the Popponesett Inn, where Lance was eagerly awaiting a moment with his bride-to-be. There were tears all around as Nicole and Lance saw each other for the first time. Then we headed off together to take a few photos. Next to the Popponesset, is a little village of shops and restaurants that was mostly closed for the season. With quaint New England weatherboard buildings, and a cool little ice cream shop, it made a perfect backdrop for a few romantic photos of Nicole and Lance. We returned to the Popponesset just in time to get all of the family photos done before the ceremony.
The ceremony couldn’t have happened in a more beautiful location. With the late afternoon sun bathing their faces in a warm glow, Nicole and Lance made their lifelong commitment to each other. The justice of the peace began to declare them man and wife, and then, observing the shocked silence of the crowd, realized that he had forgotten the rings! Soon the rings were exchanged and the newly married couple enjoyed their first married kiss to smiles and cheering from all. They walked down the aisle and onto the beach, where we captured a few sunset portraits before they joined their friends and family for the cocktail hour. Before we knew it, the reception was in full swing with dancing and fun enjoyed by all!
