Holly & Brandon’s backyard wedding in Georgetown, MA
Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing Holly and Brandon’s backyard wedding…but what a backyard! I’ve photographed many a country club with professionally landscaped grounds that couldn’t hold a candle to Holly’s Mom’s lovely garden!
We met at Holly’s Mother’s 100 year old home in Georgetown, MA. While the grounds were abuzz with last minute activity as the family worked hard to get everything ready, Holly and one of her closest friends got ready for Holly’s arrival on the scene in the bedroom upstairs. Once Holly was dressed and ready, we headed downstairs and took advantage of the wonderful light and beautiful antique furnishings to take a few portraits of Holly.
Then it was time for the ceremony. The guests gathered in the garden, as Holly and her father walked down the garden path together to the little bridge where Brandon was waiting. The ceremony was as lovely as the setting, with one of Holly and Brandon’s longest mutual friends ordained just for the event officiating. After the ceremony, everyone gathered under a tent in the side yard for cocktails and appetizers.
While the guests were enjoying the warm summer afternoon Holly, Brandon, and I took a walk down the street. At the end of the street was a lovely pond with a really cool little dock. The only problem was that it was in someone else’s yard. Fortunately the owner was out doing some lawn work, and was more than happy to allow the newlyweds to use his little slice of the pond. After a few photos, we walked back up to the house, and took advantage of the beautiful garden once again for some more photos. We got Holly and Brandon back in time to enjoy the cocktails with their guests.
Soon Holly and Brandon loaded all of their guests up into a convoy of limousines and we all took a drive into Boston, where an intimate dinner was prepared at Mistral restaurant. Mistral’s private room was tastefully decorated with flowers and candles, with warm light bathing all of the guests. I stayed just long enough to take a few photos of the festivities, then I left Holly and Brandon with their friends and family to enjoy the evening.
