Ever since she was a little girl, Catherine had a dream of being married in a castle.  So when she discovered Hammond Castle in Gloucester, MA, there was no place else for her wedding.  In fact, I think it’s safe to say that with their amazing venue, and even more amazing attire, Cat and Jack went medieval on their wedding day.  And I was lucky enough to be invited to capture it all!

I arrived at the castle just before the wedding party, so they weren’t there to see my jaw drop.  But soon the place was abuzz with activity, just like a castle would have been 1000 years ago, I’d imagine, when all of the castle attendants prepared for a royal dinner.  Helpers were everywhere, setting up tables and chairs in the great hall, preparing the food and drink stations, setting up the lawn for the marriage ceremony…Jack in the thick of it, making sure everything was just right for his new bride to be, while she was tucked away in the bridal suite preparing herself for her betrothed.  Once he was assured that everything was under control, Jack slipped away to dress in his kingly finery, and then they were read to do a little courting in the courtyard before the official ceremony began.

In the meantime, the guests had gathered in the lovely castle garden overlooking the ocean.  Once everyone was seated, the music changed, and The wedding pary descended the beautiful stone staircase to the lawn.  In front of a kingly view, Cat and Jack made their vows to one another, and sealed it with a sunset kiss.  Their first act as the king and queen of their newly formed family was to walk through the property gardens for a few moments alone together, before heading inside to preside over a feast worthy of King Arthur himself!

With a special shout out to Bey from Tasks@Bey for planning another amazing event!

Lighthouses, and haunted houses, and motorcycles oh my!  If your first thought is “Bad Ass”, you would be right! And I had all three of these things at Nicole and Tim’s bad ass wedding at the Union Bluff Hotel in York Beach Maine.

I started hanging out with Nicole, her family, and her bridesmaids in her suite overlooking the beach.  It was all fun and laughter, as Nicole got made up and dressed in preparation of seeing Tim for the first time.  We’d planned the first look at the famous Nubble lighthouse, so Nicole and I boarded the trolley and headed that way.  Tim was already there with his Harley.  He had a wallet chain hanging from his suit, and was wearing a set of tough motorcycle glasses.  The glasses concealed the tears that snuck out of his eyes when he saw Nicole for the first time in her wedding dress, and the smile never left his face for the rest of the day.  After a few photos at the lighthouse, and on the beloved Harley (that had once belonged to Tim’s dad), we headed back into town, where we found the gate to York’s Animal Kingdom wide open.  We couldn’t believe our luck and wasted no time finishing their portrait session on the carousel and in front of the haunted house.

It was a short walk back to the hotel and into their married life.  Nicole had chosen the Union Bluff Hotel because she could look at the ocean the entire time she walked down the aisle. And she might have noticed it out of the corner of her eye , but Tim had all of her attention as she walked down the grassy hill and into his life forever.  The celebration that followed was worthy of the lead up, with dancing and laughing, and love spread by all.  It was still in full swing when I drove away with a big smile still on my face.

A perfect storm of beauty, light and fun…plus lobster and S’mores!!!  If that sounds amazing to you, the you should be super jelly of the amazing wedding that Jackie and Erik threw last weekend at William Allen Farm in Pownal, ME.

Pownal, ME sounds like the name of the place where you would find a sleepy farm with a lovely white farmhouse, and a big red barn, and that’s EXACTLY what I found when I rolled into town.  As the crew set up the barn for one heck of a party, Jackie and her bridesmaids were already making the farm a little less sleepy with their joyous laughter in the bridal suite.  While they did the actual dressing, I visited the guys in the converted hayloft, then we got everyone in place for the first look.  Eric waited beside the old apple tree which bordered the small farm pond as Jackie made her way to him.  Reunited, the soon to be married couple made their way back to the barn for a few family photos, then got ready for the wedding!

As the guests arrived in big yellow school busses, the farm became remarkably less sleepy as the sound of laughter traveled over the rolling green hills.  They gathered in the shade of lovely tree, and Jackie and Eric made it official.  The walked down the aisle hand in hand, then spent their first few minutes as husband and wife gamely hiking through the big north woods that bordered the property.  Picture time over, there was nothing left to do but turn the volume up to 10, and make sure that the cows three fields away were dancing in celebration.  And that’s just what they did!
