Jennifer and Peter’s Engagement Session in Worcester MA
Jennifer and Peter were a local couple looking for a more urban environment for their engagement portraits. So when I suggested downtown Worcester, this brave Clark University Alum and her soon to be husband were completely on board…and I did a little fist pump inside.
Worcester is one of my favorite places to shoot…and not just because I can drive there in 15 minutes! But because it combines the old New England charm of an industrial MA city, with all sorts of hidden alleys and textures, and signs of a bygone era. Jennifer and Peter proved willing adventurers…meeting me at Union Station, and quickly moving on to fine the little sections of the city that would provide a unique backdrop to their love. Of course we stopped in front of the classic Heywood Furniture heart, but from there we ducked down a pretty seedy alley, and found so much photographic goodness! They danced for the revolution, climbed up and down pikes of rubble and old loading docks, and even had a spin in front of a giant bull. Across the street we found more old warehouses, and a little patch straight out of a post apocalyptic movie where nature had reclaimed a small party of the city. Through it all stalwart couple kept each other warm, and laughing, and dancing!

Lisa & Jeff’s North End Engagement Portraits in Boston MA
A little rain was not enough to dissuade Lisa and Jeff from exploring their North End neighborhood with me…and I was glad to stomp through the puddles with them as we captured their love during their engagement portraits in Boston MA.
We met at the Marriott Long Wharf, but we immediately set off in the direction of the North End, pausing to take some photos in the blossoming foliage of Christopher Columbus park, and walking down the Harborwalk to capture the misty bay behind the happy couple. Then it was in to the historic north end…taking a moment at their centrally located apartment for a wardrobe change, before venturing out into the rainy alleys of the densely populated neighborhood. The weather didn’t deter them one bit as we snaked through the streets and parks that make up the North End. As the rain poured down, they stayed dry under their umbrella, and in the warmth of each other’s arms.

Amanda & David’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
At one point during Mandy and David’s wedding celebration, the skies opened up and the rain came down in buckets…flash floods were reported all over the region…but the celebrants in the tent were warm and dry and dancing their hearts out. While a few brave guests took the dance party into the courtyard, dancing in the rain with huge smiles on their faces. Yeah, that’s the kind of fun, amazing wedding it was at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield MA.
The rain hadn’t started yet when I arrived. I captured Mandy and her bridesmaids getting ready, and even ducked into the Groom’s suite for a few photos of the guys getting ready. And only a few sprinkles were falling, when Mandy and David vowed their lifelong commitment. And it was dry as a bone, when I walked down to the river for a few portraits with the newly married couple. It wasn’t until everyone was under cover, enjoying food and drink and celebration that the heavens opened up, and by that time the only ones who got wet were the ones that wanted to. Wet or dry, however, everyone had a great time celebrating Mandy and David’s beautiful wedding!

The 2016 Siska Family Portraits in Canton, MA
The last time we caught up with the Siska family, it was a rainy fall day in November, and Vivienne was just taking her first steps. Fast forward two years, and not only did we get a beautiful, sunny, fall day to explore a lovely park, but we also got a bonus member of the cast…the youngest member: Xander!
Big brother Lincoln greeted me at the door when I arrived and escorted me into the living room, where Mom was busy styling Vivienne’s hair and Xander was just chilling on the couch. They wasted no time showing me the awesome stunt fall setup they had in the parlor, leaping with reckless abandon off the couch onto the bed of pillows on the floor. Then it was upstairs to visit each of their bedrooms, and take a second to test out Mom and Dad’s awesome claw-foot tub. We were having so much fun that we decided to move the action outdoors, driving a short way to a local park. The entire family got together for a lovely portrait before the three kids scattered to explore. When all the fun places were found, we regrouped for a rousing game of Simon Says. I totally lost!

Danielle & Michael’s Engagement Portraits At Boston Public Gardens
Fall is without a doubt the most beautiful time to visit Boston. And the Boston Public Garden is the most beautiful place to experience fall in Boston. So when Danielle and Michael asked me to take their engagement portraits there, I jumped at the chance!
I met the happy couple at the entrance to the garden and we were off to the races. They settled in to my style of shoot and move in no time, and were almost instantly comfortable in front of the camera. We took a quick tour of the park, hitting all of the top spots, before branching out onto Marlborough Street, where the couple spent many evenings strolling when they both lived in the city. Then it was back to the car for a quick change. They’d happened to park on a terrific street in the Beacon Hill area, so we only needed a lap around the block to find a bunch of great spots to capture them being awesome!

Katherine & Einar’s Wedding at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and The Radisson in Nashua, NH
I never saw Katherine with any other expression than a big, happy smile on her face during the entirety of her and Einar’s amazing, rainy, wedding day at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and the Radisson Hotel in Nashua, NH.
We jumped into family photos as soon as I arrived at the Radisson. Katherine and Einar had a more traditional sensibility, and the antique chairs in the photo room made for a perfect studio set as we captured all of their friends and family together. We even had a chance to sneak the happy soon-to-be-wed couple out into the lobby, where the beautiful stone fireplace and arched brick hall provided the backdrop. Then it was off to the church, which was quickly filled with friends and family ready to witness their union. In a ceremony with some of the most amazing music I have ever heard, Katherine and Einar became husband and wife. Katherine even participated in the music, joining her brothers and playing the violin in a lovely string piece. They exited the church holding hands and smiling lovingly at each other, while Einar shielded his new wife from the rain with an umbrella. Back at the Radisson, we all gathered in the hall for dinner, toasts, and a cake cutting…followed by the moment that everyone was waiting for: the first dance. Katherine and Einar had met at a contra dance event, and their love of dancing showed in their flawless first waltz as a married couple. Then everyone else joned it, and I swore I was watching an episode of “Dancing with the Stars”, as the talented dancers tore up the floor all night!

The Bertelli Family Portraits in Danvers MA
Last time I had an opportunity to hang out with the Bertelli family, they had just been blessed with twin girls. Nearly seven years later, I got a chance to catch up with them at their lovely home in Danvers, MA. Two years ago, the twin fairy visited them again…and all four children were delightful!
After meeting at their home, we wasted no time in venturing out into the neighborhood. Their home is right next to the town library, with it’s extensive grounds, leading down to a lovely little pond. Big sisters Amelie and Lucia were very familiar with the property, proving to be excellent tour guides and filling me in on all the fun things that happen there. I wanted to spend some individual time with each kid, so we branched off with Amelie, Lucia, Bode, and Alex each taking a turn. Then we managed to get the twins to pose together…and all four kids…and the entire family…no small feat! After all of that work, the kids deserved some down time, and we finished the session on the play set in their back yard.
