1yo Emelia’s Portrait Session at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston, MA
This weekend I got to reconnect with Milena and Sam, whose wedding I photographed at Tower Hill Botanical Garden more than four years ago. Fast forward to the present, and their life has changed a little bit with the addition of their little bundle of joy, Emelia. And they couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to record the just-turned-one cutie, than where it all started.
Emelia couldn’t be happier to explore the beautiful grounds, beginning in the courtyard, where she was fascinated by the cool turtle fountain. Almost too fascinated…so we moved her quickly away from the fountain and into the rose garden, where she found lots of pretty petals for Mom. From there we explored the trails around the property, walking together through the woods, swinging on the same swing where her Dad pushed her Mom on their wedding day, and wandering up to the scenic Mt Wachusett overlook. After a quick break inside to cool of, we headed out to the garden where her parents were married. And just like on their wedding day, we were rewarded with beautiful light…and even more beautiful smiles from Emelia!

Emily and JR’s Wedding on Nantasket Beach and Joe’s Nautical Bar in Hull, MA
Beauty and the beach is the the catchphrase that came to mind when I was looking to describe Emily and JR’s wedding on Nantasket Beach and Joe’s Nautical Bar in Hull MA. But even that doesn’t describe the fun that this wedding embodied. It was a celebration from beginning to end, with every element planned to make sure it was the most rocking party to ever be called a wedding!
My day began early on Sunday morning at the rental house where Emily and family were getting ready for the festivities. It didn’t take long for everyone to be dressed and beautified, and we all met on the beach for photos, Emily and JR leading their families for a smile filled first look. Fun family photos out of the way, everyone headed back to the house for a bit, while the guests arrived by the bussload and took their seats on the oceanside bleachers set up for them. With a smile and a Matzel Tov, JR smashed the glass, keeping his mom-made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Yarmelke in place, then taking his new wife’s hand and walking back down the beach to a waiting car. We three took our time getting to Joe’s Nautical Bar, stopping at several locations along the way for newly married portraits of the happy couple. It didn’t take long to get to the beachside bar however, and all of the assembled guests were already having a great time. The couple danced and toasted with their families, then enjoyed amazing BBQ, catered on site, then served ice cream from an ice cream truck. Yeah…it was that cool!

Laura & Carlos’ Wedding at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, MA
How many couples can tell their kids that they got married in jail? Laura and Carlos will be able to say that with a straight face. Fortunately for all the guests, that jail is now the Liberty Hotel in Boston MA. And it was the perfect match for this Boston couple’s elegant wedding!
I arrived at the bridal suite just as the hair and makeup was finishing up. It was all smiles and tail wagging as I was greeted at the door by Darcy, the only four legged member of the bridal party, and one of the most enthusiastic…right down to her purple painted nails! Once the Laura and her bridesmaids were all dressed, we headed down into the exercise yard…errr…courtyard for the first look with Carlos. Then we got to explore the hotel, taking advantage of the old jail remnants as a unique background for their portraits. Back down to the courtyard, the rain held off long enough for Laura and Carlos to profess their lifelong devotion with personalized vows. The crowd cheered as they sealed it with a kiss and headed back up the aisle to their waiting friends and family in the cocktail hour. Before we knew it, we were entering the reception, Laura and Carlos starting the show with their well rehearsed first dance, and ending the show by tearing up the dance floor for the rest of the evening!
