Kelly & Sean’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
This weekend found me back at my favorite place to shoot weddings, Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA, for the amazing wedding of Kelly and Sean.
I knew from the start that this was going to be a great wedding. Kelly and Sean have been so relaxed throughout this entire process, and that feeling was only reinforced when I arrived on Sunday. It had been raining sheets all day, and the ceremony was supposed to be outdoors, but Kelly was completely unfazed as she and Sean rehearsed for the ceremony under the tent. Back up in the bridal suite, there were only smiles, despite the uncertainty about the weather. And the positive attitude must have had an effect on the rain clouds, because as the ceremony began, the clouds held no more rain as Kelly and Sean smiled their biggest smiles for each other, and vowed their eternal love. The walked down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs., and continued walking down to the river, where the diffused and their natural ease together made my job oh so easy. And the rest of the evening was even more joyful as their freinds and family smiled with them, toasted their happiness, and danced into the night!

The Peterson Family in Wakefield, MA
My second stop in the weekend of cute babies was at the Peterson household in Wakefield, MA, where I got to meet the enthusiastic Bobby and his cutie pie of a little brother, Joey.
Bobby was waiting at the door, when I arrived at their beautiful Wakefield home, and wasted no time in leading me out to the back yard where all of his toys (and his little brother) were. He jumped right on to his cool Craftsman pick up truck, and showed me his driving skills before leading me over to his baseball tee to hit a fly ball into my lens, then to his sand box where the front end loader was busy digging up the dirt, then to the garden, where he used a shovel to do the same. I managed to break free for a few minutes to capture a few photos of the ever smiling Joey, before we were on to the swingset; the brothers racing to see who could get the highest. Then into the “store” where Bobby sold me ice cream and M&M’s…for a great price, I might add. Needless to say, neither of them was shy for the camera, even allowing us to sneak in a few family photos before breaking out the bubbles with dad.

Viyan’s 3 Month Portraits in Boston, MA
This weekend I got to catch up with one of my favorite families in Boston, MA and check in on 3 month old Viyan and his big brother Ronik. As expected the brothers had only grown cuter, Viyan showing off his big gummy smile at every opportunity, and Ronik never failing to espouse the virtues of large trucks…and police cars!
I met the little guys at their Back Bay apartment, using the familiar scenery to reacquaint myself to the boys. It’s really great to be able to use some of the same backgrounds to see how much the boys have grown since our last shoot. In Viyan’s case, the smile that lit up his face every time he saw his parents or his brother was the star of the show. He smiled on the guest bed, and on the couch, and on the ottoman where his brother posed at each of his first year shoots. He kept smiling as we headed out of the apartment and down to a little park down the street…even when we asked him to pose in a big bed of ivy!

Sarah & Paris’ Wedding at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston, MA
Another beautiful weekend for a Boston wedding and another good looking couple made my job super easy when I joined Sarah and Paris for their wedding at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf.
Sarah had just one bridesmaid, which made for a relaxing time in her parents’ suite as she got ready for the big event. With a stunning view of the harbor, Sarah prepared for the day with champagne and pampering, getting made up and dressed, with friends and family popping in to tell her how beautiful she looked. Paris’ suite was just as relaxed as he and his best man donned the elegant tuxedos and boutonnieres. With everyone ready for their debut, we headed down to the Palm Garden room for the ceremony! The two of them were just as relaxed as they formally dedicated their lives to each other in front of the gathered crowd of friends and family and shared their first married kiss just yards away from the place where they had their first date.
They felt the first twinges of love at Tia’s, just outside the Long Wharf Marriott, then wandered down to the end of the wharf, where they shared their very first kiss. So that’s where we headed for photos, the happy couple reenacting the kiss at the place where they made their first connection. Wandering back to the hotel, their guests were ready to celebrate with them. Sarah and Paris were a hit, with their ballroom dance skills showing during their first dance. And the dancing continued as the sun set over Boston.

Jennifer and Jon’s Wedding at The State Room in Boston, MA
I’m a bit of a sucker for musicals, and they don’t get much better than Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the 1954 classic. One of the songs proclaims, “Oh, they say when you marry in June, You’re a bride all your life. And the bridegroom who marries in June. Gets a sweetheart for a wife.” Now I know that Jennifer and John weren’t even a speck in their grandparents eyes in ‘54, but they sure personified the lyrics of that song when they tied the knot at the State Room in Boston, MA!
I met Jennifer and her bridesmaids in their suite at the Hyatt Regency in Boston, with makeup in full swing. With amazing efficiency, everyone was quickly made up and dressed, and ready to meet Jon for a first look in Boston’s Post Office Square. It was Jon who shed the first tear when he saw his sweetheart for the first time, and they walked hand in hand into the garden for a few photos. We had a great time wandering the streets of Boston on the way back to the State Room. We arrived just in time to hide the bride away before the guests saw her, giving me enough time to explore the city a bit with Jon and his groomsmen.
The 33rd floor of 60 State Street offers a stunning view of the city, and it was here that Jennifer and John made things official. As they read the vows that they’d composed for each other, the assembled crowd alternated between laughter and tears. A high altitude kiss sealed the deal, and Jon’s fist bump at the end of the aisle showed that this lifelong athlete and NFL agent just scored the biggest win of his life. And that winning spirit continued into the party where the lights of the city provided a perfect backdrop for the epic party that celebrated the happy couple.

Ryan’s 4 Month and Ceci’s 4 Year Portrait Session in Ashland, MA
Last week I got to hang out with my favorite Ashland family as I continue to record Ryan’s first year of life with the bonus of capturing the always fun, recently-turned-four Ceci.
Ryan was rarin’ to go as soon as I arrived, so we wasted no time capturing his great smile and moving from the rug, to tummy time in the hall, to the couch, where he delighted in having his feet gobbled by Mom. The cuteness went up another notch as soon as he donned his outside outfit, complete with a rakishly handsome newsboy cap. Just as we headed outside, Ceci and Dad arrived, and she instantly went over to her favorite little brother and gave him a kiss. Then it was her turn to take me all over the yard, and down a garden path where we discovered trees to climb, flowers to pick, and dandelion seeds to blow…all narrated by Ceci with her eternal enthusiasm. “I’m to pretty for mosquitos to bite me”, she proclaimed. And not a one did…
