Ronik’s 9 Month Portrait Session in Boston, MA
My last blog post of 2013 finds me reconnecting with Ronik and his family. And what a difference 3 months makes. Ronik has discovered his mobility, and boy can he move! He was eager to show off his new skill as soon as I arrived at the family’s Back Bay home, crawling out of his room with a huge smile. And he was off to the races, happily crawling all over the apartment, pausing only to shoot me a cute look now and again. After we’d thoroughly explored the place on our knees, we decided to check out the snow outside. The snow was delightfully unfamiliar, and transfixed him in place while we captured more of his baby charm. Then it was back inside, pausing in the hall for one last steely look.

Emma and Abigail’s portraits in Wakefield, MA (6 Month Edition)
Emma is six months old already, my how time flies. We’re halfway through her baby’s first year photo series, and she is just becoming cuter and cuter. It really helps that she has suck a great example to follow in big sis Abigail!
We started their session in the newly expanded playroom, where Abigail pretended that she didn’t remember me, throwing shy smiles across the room. Soon Emma joined us, showing off her cool princess tent, and pink polka dotted bean bag chair. But they couldn’t wait to show me the family Christmas tree, taking some time to pose in the family sled, then pointing out their favorite ornaments on the tree. With the fresh snowfall, we decided to take a little time outside…a very little time, it was cold out there! Back into the warmth of the house, the girls took some time to raise their core temperatures by each cuddling with Mom!

Jessica & Chris’ Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
“A beautiful sight, so happy tonight, wedding in a winter wonderland….” OK, so I know that’s not how the song goes, but it is the perfect way to describe Jessica and Chris’ amazing winter wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA!
The ladies arrived just before the flurries of snow that left a light dusting of fresh powder on top of the prior weeks’ snowfall. Jessica arrived all ready to go play in the snow with her soon-to-be husband, so after a quick change into her winter princess wedding gown (complete with fur stole and muff), we headed downstairs for a tearful first look, then headed right outside into the bone chilling cold. Fortunately, the love in their hearts for each provided enough heat for a 30 minute photo session, because they never once complained! Back inside, everyone was gathered for the ceremony. Underneath the festive evergreen boughs and lights that decorated the solarium, Jessica and Chris declared their lifelong love to all gathered, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. And they kept waling, right into the party! Since we’d taken the time beforehand to capture their portraits, they got to hang out with their loving friends and family the whole night, eating and drinking, and dancing and making merry…or is it making marry?

16 Month Old Nolan’s Portrait Session in Wellesley, MA
Last time I hung out with Nolan and family he was only 8 weeks old and living the city life in the family’s downtown Boston apartment. What a difference a year makes as the family has moved to a beautiful home in the suburbs, and Nolan is the master of his new castle!
We began his photo shoot in his playroom, where the soft, diffused light filtered in and he showed me all of his favorite toys. Then we headed up to his bedroom where he showed me how much he loved to climb on the furniture, and took his first solo ride on his rocking horse. Our tour of the house completed, we decided to check out the back yard. A vigorous game of ball with Buck started our outdoor adventure, and a lot of laps around the house ensued. Nolan has this walking thing down! All of that energy makes a body tired, so we headed back inside for a snack before everyone gathered together for a family photo in front of the holiday festooned fireplace.

Andrea and Adam’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
Every bride is happy on her wedding day. But some brides exude joy in a spontaneous, contagious way that lights up the faces of everyone around them. Andi was just such a bride as she celebrated her wedding day with her new husband, Adam, at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA.
When I arrived Andi was in her comfiest PJ’s and enjoying a little pre-wedding pampering in the makeup chair with her bridesmaids and closest family. It didn’t take much pampering to get her ready to don her beautiful lacy Victorian-inspired gown. Once dressed it was time for a wedding, and we all headed downstairs to the atrium, where the guests were already gathered to witness the happy event. Smiles prevailed as the couple became husband and wife, and exited the ceremony hand in hand. it was a brisk November night, but Andi and Adam are made of hearty New England stock, so we headed outside to incorporate the beautifully decorated mansion into their wedding portraits. After a few minutes outside, we were ready to get warm, and the gathered celebrants were ready to help us with dancing and food, and warm embraces that lasted throughout the night.
