Aphrodites and Andrew’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
The perfect bride marrying the perfect groom in the perfect pink dress at the perfect venue, made for an amazing event as Aphrodites married Andrew this weekend at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA.
From start to finish it was a day of happiness, from the girls arriving with huge smiles and heading up to the bridal suite to get dressed, to the groom and groomsman laughing and joking as they toasted each other with single malt scotch. But as big as the smiles were during the readymaking, they were nothing compared to the smiles that broke out on Aphrodites and Andrew’s faces when they saw each other during a private moment before the ceremony. I was fortunate enough to be able to photograph that first meeting, and to take a walk with the soon-to-be-married couple around the property, where the still bare branches revealed secret spots that I’d never seen - despite my many visits to Willowdale. Even the sun smiled on the union, peeking out from behind the overcast veil to shine on the ceremony. Presided over by one of Andrew’s best friends, the ceremony was as warm and personable as the happy couple, and ended with a kiss (as all good weddings should). From that point all that was left was the party - and the rest of the day had only begun to set the tone for the fun that was to be had once the toasts were drunk, and the music was turned up!

Erin & Brian’s Engagement Portraits at Elm Bank Reservation in Wellesley, MA
Ahhh spring - the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and the ice has finally melted. And all of the singing, blooming, and melting provided the perfect opportunity for an adventure with Erin and Brian at Elm Bank Reservation in Wellesley, MA.
Erin and Brian are avid outdoors-people, and wanted to find a location where they could break out their kayaks for their engagement portraits. I suggested Elm Bank Reservation, with it’s lovely gardens, spacious grounds, cool abandoned mansion, and canoe landing! Before hitting the water, though, we decided to explore a bit, starting off in the garden area. It was an overcast day, but for a brief moment in the garden, a shaft of sunlight illuminated the happy couple as they relaxed on a bench. Not much was blooming yet, so we wandered a little off trail into the woods, where the ground covering provided us with the green we were looking for. Then it was back up to the big house where we wandered around the stonework of the mansion, before trekking back down the wooded path to the old boathouse. Finally it was time to break out the kayaks, and Erin and Brian showed their paddling prowess with their synchronized maneuvers.

Jessica and Chris’ Engagement Portraits in Boston’s Beacon Hill and Public Gardens
Jessica and Chris are planning their December wedding from a few states away, so a weekend trip to Boston was the perfect opportunity for an engagement portrait session. And what better place in Boston to catch the late afternoon sun of a warm spring day than the Boston Public Gardens and surround streets of Beacon Hill.
We started off wandering around the alleys off of Charles Street, taking advantage of the privacy and the cool textures that they provided. Moe the cool textures than the privacy, as a man claiming to be General Sherman, and wearing the uniform of a Civil War general invaded our session a couple of time. Fortunately, Sherman marched on (to Atlanta, I presume), and Jessica, Chris, and I continued our explorations. Our wanderings eventually took us back to the Public Gardens, where the sunlight filtered through the almost-budding trees. A walk in the park was just what we needed, and we took advantage of the beauty that the historical plot provided. We finished up with just enough time for Jessica to kiss her betrothed farewell, and jet off back home.

Sarita & Vasisht’s Wedding Reception at Larz Anderson Museum, and ceremony at Sri Lakshmi Temple in Ashland MA
Spring is in the air, and it brings with it the season of weddings! And my wedding season started with a doozie this weekend at the wedding extravaganza of Sarita and Vasisht at Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA, and Sri Lakshmi Temple in Ashland, MA.
Sarita and Vasisht decided to switch things up a bit, and start the wedding weekend with the reception. I met them at Larz Anderson Auto Museum about an hour before the party kicked off so we could walk around the beautiful property a bit, and capture photos of the happy couple in their colorful wedding attire. Starting at the gazebo near the pond, we decided to take in the Boston skyline views at the top of the hill. A trail seemed to provide an easy shortcut, but it proved a lot steeper than it initially looked. Undaunted Sarita and Vasisht made their way up the hill, Vasisht carrying his bride the last few yards over a patch of thorny bushes. That was enough bushwhacking for all of us, so we headed beck down to the museum (taking the road this time), and kicked off the party. And what a party it was, filled with laughter and music, and dancing, and amazing food!
You’d think with a party like that everyone would be exhausted in the morning, but everyone was bright eyed and bushy tailed when we all met at the Sri Lakshmi Temple first thing on Sunday morning. Nor had everyone used up their smiles the night before, as the love flowed between the family under the mandap, and the crowd gathered to celebrate the union. With much throwing of rice, Sarita and Vasisht were wed - ending the perfect weekend celebration in a perfect way.
