Last week I had the opportunity to hang out with Henry just after he’d reached an important milestone in his life: his first birthday!  And man was he owning his one-ness!

When I arrived at his Worcester home, Henry greeted me with  with a cool new toy he’d found in the bathroom…the plunger.  While he was a bit shy at first, he decided I was pretty cool when I showed him how to stick the plunger onto the tile floor.  After that he was eager to show me more thing.  Like the Christmas tree that barely contained its load of presents.  And the Henry sized rocking chair that sat beside it.  A bit of a rock in the chair and he was ready to move on to the living room, where Mom and Dad were waiting to read him a book.  Then the kitchen, just because.  Then back into the dining room, where Dad had brought out a most excellent tube.  Yep - it’s official:  One is fun!

This weekend I had the opportunity to catch up with 18-month-old Abby and her family.  Abby was feeling a bit under the weather, but that couldn’t hide her innate cuteness as we hung out around the Christmas tree.

When I arrived, she wasted no time showing me her walking skills acquired since my last visit.  Then we headed into the living room, where Dad broke out the amazing bubble machine that captivated us all and shampooed the carpet in the process.  Once we’d popped our share of bubbles, we decided to try a wagon ride outside, where Abby modeled her adorable head wear.  It was a bit chilly outside, so we headed back in and checked out her playroom.  Under a sign that proclaimed “Abby is cute and funny”, she showed her extensive knowledge of animal names with her magnetic menagerie.  One more trip back into the living room, and we finished our session in front of the Christmas tree, hanging candy canes, and posing in the holiday sled.
