Last weekend I got the chance to hang out with a cool kid with a cool name, as I photographed Dash at Cochichuate State Park in Natick, MA

I met Dash and his parents at the boat ramp, and Dash wasted no time grabbing the phone to call all of his peeps in NYC.  Then he was off like a shot, living up to his name as we collected pine cones together near the gate house, then headed over to the facilities building to bench him for a while.  Our meanderings next took us to the shore of the lake for a couple of photos with Mom and Dad, before heading to a cool blue shack where we all sang his favorite songs together.  Next to the shack was a lovely little grove of saplings that proved to be no obstacle for the adventurous toddler.  Neither was the big, forested hill, where we finished the session with a lively game of hide and seek.

Fall might be fading into winter, but last it saved one last perfect day for Mary Jane and Tom as they tied the knot at Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, RI.

I arrived just in time to meet Mary Jane and her eight bridesmaids at the door of the mansion.  We were soon escorted up to the bridal suite, where the elegance of the old house was in full display as the ladies donned their elegant dresses and prepared for the big event.  Soon they were making their way down the historic marble staircase and across the manicured grounds to the chapel, where a line of important people in Mary Jane’s life took turns escorting her down the aisle to her waiting groom.  Their smiles were radiant in the warm light filtering in through the beautiful stained glass windows as Mary Jane and Tom took part in the ceremony that united them for life.

The beautiful sunset punctuated their union, and gave us some amazing light to capture their first moments together as husband and wife down by the old boathouse.  We made it back to the mansion with just enough light to capture the requested family photos.  As night descended, Mary Jane and Tom were introduced into the garden for their first dance.  They’d practiced, and they were good.  In fact, though the assembled celebrants tried their hardest on the dance floor well into the night, the prize remained with the newly married couple.

An approaching hurricane was no deterrent for Sutton High School senior, Cameron, when we met on a misty morning for his senior portrait session at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, MA.  In fact it proved to be just another part of the adventure!

When we arrived at the park, we immediately headed across the street and down the trail to the little stone shack that I love so much.  In the few weeks since my last shoot here, the lush greenery had given way to the browns of fall, making it look like a completely different place - but just as cool.  After using the stone textures, we walked into the woods, where a fallen tree nestled in a small clearing awaited.  Then we walked down into the chasm itself, using the towering stone walls, and rocky outcroppings to our advantage.  Finding a steel trail to the top, we paused in a great little crevice where an ancient glacier had split a huge boulder in half.  We to follow the trail at the top of the canyon, pausing in a copse of faded blueberry bushes, and a rocky part of the wooded trail.  The trail took us to an old bathroom building that was built like the proverbial brick…errr…river stone…errrr… goodnight everybody!
