Karsh & Sahan’s 10 Month Baby Portraits in Cambridge, MA
It was a beautiful, sunny, day late last week, when I meet the coolest set of 10 month old twins, Karsh and Sahan, and had a fun adventure photographing them and their parents in Cambridge, MA. I met the family in their apartment, where the twins immediately showed me their model good looks, and their early prowess with a basketball and soccer ball. After a few photos at home, the future Olympians and their parents took me down the street to one of their favorite parks. We started out in a grassy spot next to a cool green building, but all of our eyes were on the big hill rising from the center of the park, so we long, arduous trek up to the top. There the boys hung out, and tackled one another, and made a grab for my camera, while the Zakim bridge watched lazily in the background. Back down the hill, we found a shady little grove for a couple of family photos, then we headed back to the apartment for a few photos in their home - they boys proudly showing off their room, and their matching cribs.

Elizabeth & John’s Wedding on the Seaport Elite in Boston MA
I love boats, and I love weddings - so put me on both, and it’s my definition of a perfect Saturday. Especially when I had such a cool couple to spend it with in Elizabeth and John!
I met Elizabeth at the Bullfinch Hotel in Boston, just before she stepped into the cool antique car that took her to the wedding yacht. I stuck around for a little while to hand out with John, his dad, and his son, Dax, as they got dressed for the wedding. Then, the four of us jumped into a cab, and headed over to the Seaport Elite, docked at the World Trade Center. On-board, I took a couple of minutes to photograph the details on the banquet deck before joining Elizabeth in the charming little bridal cabin. She was dressed and ready in short order, and I headed out on the main deck with the guests to await the start of the wedding ceremony.
As the boat sailed into the harbor, Elizabeth’s mom escorted her down the aisle where John, Dax, and a favorite aunt who was presiding over the ceremony were waiting. As the deck gently rocked, and the sea breeze blew across the deck, Elizabeth and John made their vows, complete with tears of joy, and love letters to each other that they would share on their 5th wedding anniversary. With a kiss, they were wed, and we cruised back to the World Trade Center for a few photos on shore. Back on the ship, we were ready for a banquet, and that’s what we had, the lower deck awash with the smells of the feast. After a meal like that, everyone was ready to work it off on the dance floor, so we headed up to the main deck once again, and danced the remainder of the cruise away. Everyone was having so much fun, that we decided to take the party back to the Bullfinch…the laughter and joy was kicking into full gear when I said my goodnight!

Shannon & Phil’s Wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Boston, MA
What could be better than a double header in Boston?! Maybe a double header in Boston that begins at one of the city’s most elegant hotels and ends on a yacht! Part one found me at the Boston Harbor Hotel for Shannon and Phil’s beautiful wedding.
I met Shannon and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite where the fun had already begun with the makeup and hair party in full swing. I slipped out for a few minutes to go hand with Phil and the guys - two doors down, and when I came back, everyone was dressed and ready to go. So with a firm warning to the guys not to leave their room, we headed down to the Boston Harbor Hotel’s restaurant, Meritage, which was empty mid afternoon, and perfect for creating the type of contemporary bridal portraits that we were looking for. Meritage, also gave us a great view of the Harbor Room, where the wedding was about to take place, and we could see the guests starting to arrive, so I took my leave from the ladies, and headed over to prepare for the ceremony.
For a venue that was so elegant and posh, the ceremony was warm and personal, and loving, with more than a few joyous tears shed. At the proclamation that they were husband and wife, Shannon and Phil gave a fist pump, before walking down the aisle and right out onto the Boston waterfront for a few moments alone while we captured their first portraits together as a married couple. After a lap around the wharf and surrounding areas, we met the family for family photos, then prepared for the party. The Wharf Room had been transformed into a beautiful ballroom, and the DJ kept the music pumping and the dance floor filled. Shannon and Phil danced the night away, leaving only to sneak out for a few romantic photos in Boston at night.

Jenny & Josh’s Wedding at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA
Friday the 13th proved to be a very lucky day indeed for Jenny and Josh as they celebrated their wedding surrounded by their friends and family at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA.
Their not-in-the-least-bit-freaky Friday adventure began when Jenny and the girls arrived at the manor house in their chauffeur driven limousine. They were immediately escorted up to the bridal suite, where the mimosas and champagne, along with the rousing soundtrack from a bridesmaid’s iPhone kept the flurry of preparation activity lively and fun. In what seemed like mere moments, everyone was dressed and ready to search out cool photo locations in the old mansion. Once that mission was accomplished, we all headed downstairs where the guests were gathered in the courtyard and cooling themselves off with the antique styled fans provided by the bride and groom. The fans may have also been used to disguise a few tears at Jenny and Josh’s emotional words of commitment. Everyone was all smiles, however, as the newly minted family walked down the aisle hand in hand, ready to spend a few minutes alone, and explore the amazing grounds of Willowdale. Then it was back to the tent, where the guests were ready to dance, and Groove Authority (the wedding band) was ready to make that happen!

Jamie and Dave’s Wedding at Christ the King Parish and the Popponesset Inn in Mashpee MA
This weekend found me down on Cape Cod, with a whole bunch of my fellow Grafton neighbors as we celebrated Jamie and Dave’s wedding at Christ the King Parish followed by their reception at the Popponesset Inn in Mashpee, MA.
I first met Jamie and her bridesmaids and family at the vacation home they had rented for the week. When I arrived, they were dressed in matching shirts with monogrammed initials, and drinking from personalized glasses. After taking a few detail photos, the ladies all headed upstairs to get dressed for the big day. Once dressed, they loaded up on the trolley for the short trip to Christ the King parish in Mashpee where the main event was set to take place.
The ceremony was perfect, with the sun shining through the stained glass windows as Jamie and Dave became husband and wife. After the I Do’s were done, they headed out into the warm sunshine and back onto the trolley, this time the destination was the beach for a few family photos. We knocked those out, and had a bit of time before the reception, so we headed inside for an air conditioned snack. The empty restaurant also provided a great background for a few bridal portraits of Jamie, before heading back out into the heat for some romantic portraits of the new Mr and Mrs. We got done with time to spare, and headed to their beach cottage for some more cool relaxation before the party. Well rested, they were all set to celebrate when they were announced in to the reception tent shortly later. And it was a good thing, because there was a lot of celebrating to do!

Katie & Brian’s Engagement Portraits on Castle Island in South Boston
Boston was hot on Friday. Fortunately, Katie and Brian picked the perfect location for their engagement portraits, where the sea breeze cooled us down, and provided a natural fan to blow Katie’s hair back as they channeled their inner super models.
I met the happy couple just outside of the sandwich shop on Castle Island in South Boston, MA. We started walking around the fort, pausing in a shady spot by the front gate to take advantage of the unique textures of the antique facade. From there we headed seaside, walking out onto the fish pier to get some ocean in the background. Continuing on our lap, we spotted a colorful flower bed, and hopped a fence to explore it more fully. Back over the fence, and we saw a rusty door that was covered in creeping vines. A quick stop at a Pepsi truck, and the back door of the sandwich shop completed our lap. A quick outfit change, and we were ready for lap 2, this time taking the ocean side trail, where the setting sun over the Boston skyline gave us the perfect finale.
